The Flexible Dieting Approach

The Flexible Dieting Approach

We hear this term “Flexible Dieting” every time we open social media.

What is flexible dieting exactly?

It is exactly what it sounds, FLEXIBLE. It was a balanced dieting approach that allows you to reach your goals AND eat ANY types of food.

Any foods meaning healthy-good for your body foods and the not so good-processed type foods. (Ex. Candy bar) It also means you do not have to eliminate any food groups if you prefer.

When using a flexible dieting approach you want to be sure and eat the good ole healthy foods most of the time. The occasional candy bar, chocolate chips, or cookie butter isn’t going to make you UNHEALTHY nor is it going to derail you from making progress as long as it fits into your daily intake, that’s it. It is what you do MOST of the time that matters. This is a lifestyle and saying you will never have candy again is not realistic.

Why I suggest a Flexible Dieting approach

  1. NO MORE FOOD RESTRICTIONS.

  2. NO SET MEAL PLAN, YOU LITERALLY EAT WHAT YOU WANT.

  3. IT CAN BE FUN INSTEAD OF BORING, YOU WILL ENJOY FOOD AGAIN.

  4. IT IS A SUSTAINABLE DIET THAT ALLOWS YOU TO ENJOY A VARIETY OF FOODS, INCLUDING THE FOODS YOU LOVE MOST.

My personal approach to Flexible Dieting,

I eat all food groups. I eat mostly whole healthy foods but I also implement foods like actual bacon (not turkey bacon), all kinds of breads, cereal, chocolate chips in oats, sugary granola in yogurt, creamer in my coffee, biscotti’s because coffee lover, and you get the point.

I am realistic. I am human and you are too.

Majority of people who choose a flexible dieting approach track their daily macronutrients. If you’ve heard the term “If it fits your macros” you know what I’m talking about. This term will be discussed in a later post. Although most flexible dieters count macros, you can also be a flexible dieter counting only calories. It is still the same concept.

So, if you want to have your cake and eat it too, try this approach. It may save you as it did me.

In my case, I have my donuts and I eat them too.
