Balance and Stability Importance
Stand on one leg, jump high and wide side to side, and balance a ball on your head….
OK OK, I’m kidding but we might be standing on one leg, hopping side to side or playing a little toss and catch :)
When I start training a new client I always have some type of balance and stability work programmed into their training sessions and yes, I see the look on their faces when I ask them to perform these exercises, they aren't ecstatic about it.
There is a reason I start here with new clients, ESPECIALLY those who are new to using weights in the gym.
Here are 2 main reasons:
Strengthen stabilizer muscles, tendons, and ligaments within the body to prepare them for our future training sessions.
Improving your balance and stability will improve your daily life. Think about the times you may have tripped, lost your balance and fell resulting in an injury, a twisted ankle, or even just scuff marks. Working on your balance and stability during training sessions will better prepare you for these little mishaps.
My clients are always surprised at how little they can balance and stabilize their body in unstable environments and they are always excited when it improves!
Do this today and challenge yourself with balance and stability!!!
As always, you can send me an email if you have any questions at all.
I am happy to help!
