From "fitness" to HEALTH
MY OWN HEALTH JOURNEY STARTS HERE
As I shift my focus from solely aesthetics to more on actual health I want to share the process with you.
This is my first step. I am taking it day by day so that I don’t get overwhelmed and give up.
I am one who consumes a lot of artificial sweeteners and it’s time to quit.
How? I threw out all the splenda products from my house. I want to bring back my natural taste for real foods. Plus this will be a big step for my gut health. Artificial sweeteners are known for feeding the bad bacteria in the gut and changing your microbiome which is a bad thing. EVERYTHING IS LINKED TO YOUR GUT.
2. I am also limiting coffee and caffeine. One to two cups of coffee a day or 200mg or less of caffeine a day. (I usually have at least 400mg/day, I’m cutting it in half)
I won't tell myself I cannot have it or else I will become fixated on it and want it more. To help with this I am trying out other alternatives like mushroom coffee, the one I use has about 20 mg of caffeine and I actually do feel this.
3. I am becoming more aware of the foods I put into my body, reading all ingredients and making sure they are healthy for me.
4. I have decreased my training to a 4 day split instead of 5.
Why? I think this will allow me to recover better and allow healing to take place. My body wants to heal but it can’t if I’m not allowing it to heal. This is going to be hard for me but I believe it is needed this time in my life.
5. I am starting to have untracked meals more often, working down my cardio even more, and increasing food accordingly. More food and more rest will help with this healing process.
Mentally? I am just trying to hang on. I am so tired of being tired, tired of always feeling bad, tired of my stomach always hurting, I’m just tired. It’s time for change and this is where it starts.
If you are interested in following along I will be sharing more as I transition. I will share my next steps as they come, I will still share recipes, anything I am trying out for myself in terms of cleaner supplements like vitamins or protein powders or whatever it may be.
If you are going through something similar, you aren’t alone. I hope by sharing my journey and the process that it encourages you to take action and create the needed change in your life.
Here’s to HEALTH!
